Xuehai Yan is currently a full professor and principle investigator at the Institute of Process Engineering (IPE), the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). He is vice directors both at the State Key Laboratory of Biochemical Engineering and the Center of Mesoscience, and the director of the Department of Biomaterials and Bioformulations, IPE, CAS. He obtained NFSC Distinguished Young Scholar Award in 2020, and NFSC Outstanding Young Scholar Award in 2015. He won a research fellowship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (2009-2011) when he worked at the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces in Germany, after he obtained his PhD with distinction in physical chemistry at the Institute of Chemistry, CAS in 2008. In 2013, He took up the current position in China. His research interest is mainly focused on the biomolecular self-assembly and materials, mesoscale mechanisms, biomimetic protocells and functional architectures for nanomedicine and bioenergy. He has more than 190 published papers from peer reviewed journals including Nat. Rev. Chem., Chem. Soc. Rev., Science Advances, Chem, Matter, J. Am. Chem. Soc., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., Adv. Mater., ACS Nano, Adv. Funct. Mater. etc., citations are >15000, a book published by Wiley-VCH, 5 book chapters, and more than 10 patents authorized. He serves as the associate editors of ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces (2023-), Green Energy & Environment (2018-), and Colloids and Surfaces A (2017-2022).
